Key5 Basketball Coaching

Key5 coaching have spent the last 28 years teaching players how to play basketball and training coaches to unlock their teams potential. They wanted to take their offering online with a membership site.

What was required

Key5 Coaching previously had a membership site built; but were not happy with it from a user experience perspective. The content management system was complicated to work with and meant that uploading new content was a time consuming frustration.

They wanted a new custom membership site.

Due to the amount of new content becoming available; this made the clear requirement that the members only material needed to be segmented down into various categories and areas of the site to improve the members experience.

Key5 Coaching therefore made the decision to invest in their membership project and approached us looking for a vast improvement in user design and marketing and sales capabilities.

Key5 Coaching required their site to be connected to their HubSpot CRM to help segment their customer lists. They needed to be able to communicate more effectively with members and potential customers who were not being engaged with efficiently. From this, Key5 also needed the ability to run lead generation and marketing campaigns – so to convert their leads to sales and build up their membership numbers.

To build a better engagement with their members; Key5 Coaching requested their very own community forum, ability to run weekly live webinars and to present exclusive member-only clinics and live workshops that members could book onto and add to their own calendars.

Due to the team based memberships Key5 offer, it was crucial that basketball coaches and teams could sign up and add their team members to the site as sub-users. This would allow each individual to independently access the training and resources and mark course content as complete in their own time.

How we helped

We produced a clean yet user-friendly design with a critical focus on smooth navigation and content filtering.

The membership site design followed the companies branding and imagery style closely, so to give the members area it’s own unique look and feel; although clearly on brand.

We used our MemberLab framework for the core areas of the membership site.

The membership sales and content access are powered by Memberpress, allowing the creation of multiple membership levels and sub-user memberships in various currencies.

We custom developed post types and advanced filtering to help break down the material into the relevant sections, whilst the content is delivered using Learndash for all the courses. This allows the user to download relevant PDFs applicable to specific courses and to mark each lesson as complete so to track their progress.

We also used Woocommerce to help up-sell the live workshops with ticket and attendee management systems that also provided advanced discount rules.

The community forum is powered by IPboard and offers a smooth and engaging user experience for the members.

We also built in multiple web forms for welcoming new members, requesting feedback on courses and content as well as to capture any cancellation feedback. This gave the team better visibility on their members while collecting information to help them improve what they currently offer.

We integrated the site with HubSpot CRM for web forms, membership sales and event sales. Helping to segment their contacts based on whether they are a lead or a member; has dramatically improved the marketing and sales automation and has made management and communication with members a lot more streamlined and effective.

Key5 were a joy to work with, and we continue to support them and help as they embark on their mission to make online basketball coaching fun and interactive.
